Jorge Mas Canosa, a Cuban-American activist and leading figure in the Cuban-exile community in Miami, founded the Cuban American National Foundation in 1981 with Raul Masvidal. He was instrumnetal in the creation of Radio & TV Marti, U.S., government broadcasts of uncensored news and information to the Cuban people.

Arnaldo Monzón Plasencia, a Cuban exile and financier of the Cuban American American National Foundation, was linked to terrorist organizations Omega 7, the Cuban Nationalist Movement and Alpha-66.

The Cuban American National Foundation (CANF), a non-profit organization founded in 1981 at the initiative of the Reagan administration, is dedicated to overthrowing the Cuban government of Fidel Castro and a non-violent transition to a pluralistic, market-based democracy in Cuba. Canosa served as Chairbman of the Board of Directors until his death in 1997.

In a series of interviews with the New York Times, Luis Posada Carriles, a Cuban exile paramilitary who claimed responsibility for the bombings at hotels and nightclubs in Cuba in 1997 and is accused of the bombing of Cubana Flight 455, said his activities were directly supported by Jorge Mas Canosa. Monzon participated directly along with the notorious criminal Luis Posada Carriles in the preparation and conduct of terrorist actions against Cuba.
